Pilates

What is pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on core muscles and posture with breathing. It is an excellent way to help you move freely again, strengthening from the middle out, through floor-based mat work and functional exercises in a standing position. Pilates is highly effective for injury prevention and research has shown that Pilates can be especially useful in helping to prevent the recurrence of low back pain. Hugely adaptable, Pilates is a form of exercise, fitness and therapy combined, and can be geared to any age or ability.

I trained with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) in 2007 and have been a keen practitioner ever since. On a personal level, I practise Pilates most days to maintain my own strength and flexibility.

You can learn Pilates with me in three ways: through a 1:1 physio-led Pilates session in your own home or online via a video link, or by participating in one of my group classes.

I am currently running classes in the Borders only - please contact me to find out about times and availability.  If you think you would benefit from an initial 1:1 session with me before joining a class, do get in touch.
